It is a Saving bank account specially designed for the directives of the Ministry Human Resource Development, Government of India to lessen school dropouts and then to encourage and promote the enrolment of the girl child who belong to the ST/SC communities in Secondary School.
Features
| Eligibility | · All girl child who have passed 8th standard.
· Girl who have passed the 8th standard from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (irrespective of whether they belong to SC/ST) and had enrolled themselves in the 9th standard in Satte or Union Territorry Government, Government Aided or local body in the academic year of 2008-09. |
| Application | · To eligible Canara NSIGSE Savings Bank Deposit Account the application has to be made by Bank prescribed form.
· One who is applying for this scheme has to submit 2 recent passport size photograph. |
| Identity amd Address Proof | · To activate this account the applicant has to submit a copy of student identity card with photo, date of birth and authentication by the school authorities.
· One has to submit a declaration cum no objection letter by one’s parents/guardian of the minor to verify that the minor has got enough knowledge on how to open and operate the account. |
| Non-operation of the Account Charges | There are no charges applicable for the non-operational of the account. |

| Transfer ability | Available from one branch to the other within Canara Bank. |

| Withdrawals | The withdrawals are mostly made with the help of withdrawal slips |

Terms and Conditions
- Married girls are not eligible to open a saving bank account under this scheme.
- Girls studying in private unaided schools are excluded under this scheme.
- Girls studying in Central schools are also excluded under this scheme.
- There shall be no restriction related to the income criteria for the grant of incentives to the girl child as they belong mostly from the unprivileged class of the society.
