Uttar Pradesh announces 2022 EV policy with 1 Lakh Subsidy
The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a new EV policy to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the state.
As part of the 2022 Electric Vehicle Policy, the government will offer a 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees on the purchase of EVs during the first 3 years. The policy further states that for EVs manufactured in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the exemptions will be extended to the fourth and fifth year.
As per the policy, the government will offer a 15% subsidy on the factory cost of electric 2-wheelers, up to a maximum of Rs. 5,000 per vehicle. This subsidy will be offered only on the first 2 lakh vehicles.
The state government has announced a subsidy of up to Rs. 1 lakh on the purchase of an electric car. It will be valid on the first 25,000 vehicles sold.
The subsidy on electric 3-wheelers will be up to Rs. 12,000 for the first 50,000 units, and a subsidy of up to Rs. 20 lakh will be offered on the first 400 electric buses sold.
To boost the development of charging infrastructure in the state, the government has announced a subsidy on the first 2,000 charging stations. A subsidy of up to Rs. 10 lakh per charging station and a Rs. 5 lakh per battery swapping station has been announced.
